'13th' - Putting Modern Racism In It's Historical Context ...

The upcoming and highly acclaimed documentary "13th" by Netflix (on the 13th Amendment, the Abolition of Slavery) is a powerful film from director Ava DuVernay on racism and incarceration in the USA.

DuVernay previously direct 'Selma', a historical drama based on the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches.

We were particularly moved by scenes from the Civil Rights in the 60's - lent a chilling edge by a voice-over taken from speeches of Donald Trump.

The film argues that one exclusion to the 13th Amendment - incarceration for crime - is being, and has been for decades, abused by US Authorities disproportionately against blacks. And the truth of the film is hard - impossible - to deny.

Here's the Trailer. Catch it if you can.
