So Who's REALLY Funding 'Robinson's Street Riots ?

For a long time, Steven Yaxley-Lennon (aka 'Tommy Robinson', 'Paul Harris', 'Andrew McMaster') has had his source of financial support questioned, but rather well hidden.

His former 'career' at cash-strapped and tax-troubled Canadian outfit 'Rebel TV' didn't pay a lot, and his 'business interests' barely break even. Cash from the gullible supporters comes in at a reasonable rate, but looks like it wouldn't cover minimum wage, let alone his many expenses - including hiring of 'staff'. His book sales were laughable and most profit went to his ghostwriter. (You don't think he wrote it, did you?)

He's rightly in jail, now, of course, but while free, the events put on by him aren't cheap - witness the “Day for Freedom” gathering in London. Journalists were told that "donations had covered most of the cost." We think not.

Now, as Tim Fenton at Political Site Zelo Street and iNews have written, a far-right group in the USA has not merely owned up to being behind the funding - it has positively boasted about it ...
MEF is sponsoring and organizing the second “Free Tommy Robinson” gathering in London on July 14. MEF previously provided all the funding and helped organized the first “Free Tommy Robinson” event held June 9 in London.
As i News has reported ...
... while the groups organising the rallies have previously claimed to be self-funded or from donations, a hard-line US 'Conservative Think Tank', Middle East Forum, have said they have actually been funding the demonstrations. In a post on its website last week, the group took responsibility for financing both the Free Tommy Robinson rally on June 9, and the rally on 14 July.
Innocent sounding. Not so.
Middle East Forum is an innocuous-sounding name for yet another group formed and designed to foster anti-Muslim Hatred.

It's President, Daniel Pipes, has a history of supporting Far Right Parties and fascist Groups, including the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) and Sweden Democrats.

As Hope Not Hate has explained ...
MEF was founded in 1990 by Daniel Pipes – an influential and ‘respectable’ figure in the American ‘counter-jihad’. It's a neoconservative think tank on Middle Eastern affairs. MEF campaigns against Sharia Law and the supposed ‘Islamisation’ of the United States” to whip up paranoid whites.
Why does this matter?

Because, as Sunny Hundal has summarised ...
A hardline American group is funding violent, Far-Right rallies in the UK. If a Saudi group was known to fund violent Islamist rallies in Britain, there would be outrage and people demanding an investigation.
Quite true. If these were Left Wing Demonstrations funded by Muslim group, something would be done. It would be Daily Mail Front Page for weeks.

Stephen Yaxley Lennon and his pals are free to speak as they see fit. That isn’t a problem.

Foreigners enabling it, facilitating it, and interfering in this country’s judicial system - that certainly is.
