Italy Fights Back - Fascist Salvini Thrown Out Of Government

A new coalition Government in Italy has excluded the Lega Party (formerly Fascist Group Lega Nord) and it's leader, Matteo Salvini.

The new coalition will take power in Italy Thursday, throwing far-right Interior Minister Matteo Salvini and his Northern League party out of government. PM Giuseppe Conte, fresh off the G-7 summit in Biarritz, France, will stay on, leading a coalition between the anti-'establishment' Five Star Movement and the left-of-center Democratic Party.

Salvini was previously part of the ruling coalition, but after an attempted power grab of the Government, the coalition partners Five Star turned not to him, but other parties, to form Italy's new Ruling Coalition.

Salvini's fiercely anti-immigrant policies were his springboard into the political arena. His links with - and admiration of - both Putin and Mussolini have now hopefully initiated his downfall.
